The High Performing Team
The Self-Aware Team – Stage 1
Unlock the power of self-awareness with Insights Discovery. In this highly interactive session, your team building day will:
- Discover their unique preferences and perceptions and learn how these shape the way they work
- Gain fresh insight into the cognitive diversity within the group – recognising how different strengths and perspectives create stronger results
- Share personal strengths and challenges openly, building trust and appreciation across the team
- Identify blind spots and create practical action plans that boost individual and collective performance.
This first stage lays the foundations for a more connected, collaborative, and high-performing team.
The Self-Aware Team – Stage 2
Building on the learning from Stage 1, your team will:
- Reflect on progress and take part in powerful team development activities
- Overcome communication barriers and learn how to adapt to connect with each other more effectively
- Explore creative thinking techniques and new perspectives to solve problems and collaborate more effectively
- Apply the lessons from Matthew Syed’s Rebel Ideas to harness the true value of cognitive diversity
- Refer to the Insights Team Effectiveness Model to plan ahead for ongoing team building.
As part of this stage, we also introduce our Creativity Programme – a powerful way to unlock fresh thinking, inspire innovation and take collaboration to the next level. Check out how this can amplify your team’s performance and spark lasting change.
Smarter Habits for Highly Effective Teams
Being busy doesn’t always mean being effective. In fact, constantly rushing can get in the way of real progress. This programme helps your team challenge the myth that “busyness = effectiveness” and instead build habits that deliver meaningful results.
Through an interactive and practical approach, your team will:
- Recognise the difference between activity and impact, using real-world examples of what people often say when they’re “too busy”
- Learn and apply the Urgency vs Importance Model to focus on what really drives success
- Put the model into practice with a lively bingo-style activity to check and deepen understanding
- Reflect on unhelpful habits — taking ownership of the language and behaviours that may be holding your team back
- Explore proven techniques and best practices, share ideas and commit to positive personal and team habits that create lasting effectiveness.
The result? A team that works smarter, not harder – with clear priorities, healthier habits and a stronger sense of collective achievement.
Developing Trust and
Psychological Safety in Teams
High-performing teams aren’t built on individual brilliance, they’re built on trust. When team members feel safe to be open, vulnerable and authentic, collaboration flourishes and results accelerate.
This programme helps your team recognise that success is a team game, not a solo effort, by combining Patrick Lencioni’s 5 Dysfunctions of a Team model with the learning gained from Insights Discovery. Together, your team will:
- Use Insights Discovery to deepen self-awareness and appreciation of others, creating stronger connections and mutual understanding
- Develop a collective, joint approach to improving how they work together
- Score the team’s current performance across the five areas, identify the gaps and link these to observable behaviours.
- Take part in a collaborative exercise to identify the improvements and behaviours needed to strengthen trust and performance
- Make personal, public commitments to actions that build lasting trust and improve the way the team works.
The outcome: a team with stronger trust, greater psychological safety and the tools to transform relationships into results.
Living our Purpose & Values
When teams connect deeply to their purpose and values, they achieve more than just results – they create a culture that inspires, motivates and lasts. This module aligns your people to both the organisation’s vision and the team’s unique contribution, helping them live the values every day.
Through interactive and collaborative activities, your team will:
- Explore Simon Sinek’s Start with Why to understand the deeper purpose behind their work
- Reflect on the organisation’s vision and define the personal legacy they want to create in achieving it
- Bring the company’s values to life with a fun, hands-on exercise that translates values into real team behaviours
- Work in smaller groups to define what those behaviours look and feel like in practice – what colleagues should see, hear, and experience every day
- Link their shared purpose and values to Daniel Pink’s principles of Intrinsic Motivation (Drive) – building a culture where people are inspired by autonomy, mastery and purpose
- Commit to living these behaviours, with clear follow-up actions to embed them into the team’s culture.
The result: a team that doesn’t just talk about values, but lives them – motivated from within, united by purpose and empowered to create a culture that drives both performance and pride.
The natural next step is our Positive Support & Challenge module, which helps teams sustain this culture by holding each other accountable in constructive, motivating ways.
Positive Support & Challenge
High-performing teams thrive when members hold each other accountable in ways that are both supportive and constructive. This module helps your team develop the confidence and techniques to challenge positively – modelling the behaviours they want to see in others and creating a culture of continuous growth.
Your team will:
- Explore the Support & Challenge Model, recognising that both elements are essential to building a growth mindset
- Connect this with Kim Scott’s Radical Candor approach – learning how to care personally while challenging directly to achieve honest, respectful communication
- Apply Declan Coyle’s Green Platform® to understand that every team member has a choice: remain stuck in the “red platform” of blame, moaning and victimhood, or step onto the “green platform” of personal responsibility, possibility and growth
- Understand the Drama Triangle (victim, rescuer, persecutor) and learn how to shift towards the healthier roles of creator, challenger and coach
- Practise techniques of supportive challenge, including using open questions to unlock deeper thinking
- Learn how to use positive reframing to challenge unhelpful “deletions, distortions, and generalisations”
- Commit to personal actions, ensuring the principles of support and challenge are embedded in everyday behaviours.
The outcome: a team culture where people feel safe to speak up, support one another and challenge constructively – driving accountability, trust and higher performance.
Team Effectiveness
High-performing teams don’t just happen; they are built through self-awareness, trust and intentional action. In this advanced module, we use the Insights Team Effectiveness Model to help your team build on their existing knowledge of Insights Discovery and apply it directly to the way they work together.
Your team will:
- Revisit their Insights Discovery preferences as a foundation for evaluating how the team functions
- Learn the principles of the Insights Team Effectiveness Model and explore how it supports stronger collaboration
- Work in pairs and small groups to apply the model, using questionnaires and practical exercises to pinpoint where the team is performing well and where challenges remain
- Identify priority development areas and create a shared plan for improvement
- Document specific, practical actions – with each team member taking personal responsibility for moving these forward.
The outcome: a team that builds on the self-awareness gained through Insights Discovery, applies it to real-world teamwork and takes collective ownership for continuous improvement.
This module is most effective when all team members have already completed Insights Discovery – ideally through our Self-Aware Team programme. Together, the two modules create a powerful journey: moving from individual self-awareness to collective team effectiveness.
Teams do their best work when they know themselves, trust each other and feel inspired by a shared purpose. That’s exactly what this journey is about – a mix of self-awareness, trust-building, positive challenge and smart habits that turn good teams into brilliant ones.
You can take the full journey or pick and mix the modules that fit your team the best. Either way, we’ll design something energising, practical and inspiring – because developing people should never be dull!
